Magnesium sulfate is hygroscopic (absorbs and retains air moisture), so it may be damp or form lumps already in the bags.
This property does not affect the quality and only affects the flowability of the raw material and how it is worked with.
The bag marking 16 Mg + 13S informs about the nutrient content: 16% MgO ( magnesium oxide ) and 13% S (sulfur)
* Magnesium sulfate MgSO4 is supplied by the manufacturer in bags marked MgO SO3 by the manufacturer.
MgO + SO 3 → MgSO 4
This is an acid-base reaction ( neutralization ): MgO is a base , SO 3 is an acid .
