It increases the pH of the water and thus the water's desire to bind impurities.
Use for machine washing or hand washing as a supplement or replacement for detergent.
You can also degrease greasy, baked-on baking sheets by soaking them.
The difference between heavy and light baking soda is similar to the difference between granulated sugar and powdered sugar. Both will serve the purpose. Light is the powder, heavy is the mini granules.
Light soda has the advantage of dissolving faster. The disadvantages are that it takes up more volume and, if not mixed properly, can cause lumps due to caking, known for example from cooking porridge or pudding.
Heavy baking soda has the advantage of not causing lumps or caking, but it takes a little longer to dissolve. It is heavier so it takes up less space.
Caking is simply the crushing of a substance by binding moisture from the air and thus forming lumps, familiar from the kitchen, for example, with salt.

The first two use sodium chloride (table salt) to produce sodium carbonate.
In the production of light soda by the newer method (“Solvay process”), all
raw materials and products that can be reused or otherwise used.
The Hou process uses a combined process for producing multiple substances.
The processes can be summarized as ecological.
Washing soda is one of the most widely used chemicals.
